Rangers marked their return to Ibrox with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Dundee and booked their place in the semi finals of the Premier Sports Cup, where they will take on Motherwell.

The home side took the lead after 18 minutes through a clever finish from Cyriel Dessers from James Tavernier's powerful cross into the penalty area.

Dessers went close to doubling his side's lead on 36 minutes, however the big Belgian forward was denied by Dundee keeper Trevor Carson.

Dessers was denied again by Carson in first half stoppage time following an acrobatic effort from John Souttar's delivery, meaning the Light Blues went in at half time leading by a goal to nil.

Rangers were awarded a penalty just a few minutes into the second half after Dessers was fouled by Dundee midfielder Mohamed Sylla, with the penalty being dispatched by Gers captain James Tavernier to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute.

Dundee would go close to pulling one back a few minutes later before Nedim Bajrami's attempt was denied by Carson.

Cyriel Dessers put the game to rest in the 66th minute with another impressive finish following Bajrami's cross making it 3-0 to the Gers, shortly before being replaced by Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane.

The Light Blues could have added more with Igamane going close in the 85th minute.

Phillipe Clement's side will now face Motherwell for a place in the League Cup final on the weekend of the 2/3 of November.
