Rangers moved two points clear of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with a 3-0 victory over St Johnstone in Perth.
Mohamed Diomande broke the deadlock in the 37th minute with an excellent strike from outside the penalty area - his first goal for the club since arriving at Ibrox in the January transfer window. The Gers had struggled to create any significant chances up uptil this point.
The Light Blues appeared to grow in confidence in the second half with Todd Cantwell and Fabio Silva going close to extending Rangers' lead, with Dujon Sterling also going close with a header.
St Johnstone nearly found themselves level with John Lundstram almost heading the ball into his own net.
Following a VAR review Rangers were awarded a penalty for a foul on Sterling, with captain James Tavernier finishing emphatically in the 79th minute of the game.
The Gers were awarded a second penalty, this time for a Luke Robinson handball - again following a review from VAR - with Tavernier converting from the spot once again to ensure the three points would be coming back to Ibrox.
Philippe Clement: "Another three important points. I'm proud about the team because they had to adapt to circumstances. We could not play on this pitch our normal football".
Rangers will face Hearts next on Saturday, February 24.
